What is the Secret to Quibids? REVEALED

I get asked at least twice a day "If I want to win on Quibids what do I need to do?". The answer is you need to understand what causes an auction to end and to that end I tell them to watch for Confusion Points. That said I figured I probably should cover the subject of confusion points a little more in depth here so that everyone can take advantage of the information.

What are Confusion points?

Confusion Points are events that are created when a pattern is broken. Yes that is all a confusion point is. This simple event is how items are won and lost on Quibids, any type of bidding pattern can create a confusion point. A pattern turns into a confusion point when one or multiple bidders suddenly bid differently than they were bidding earlier.

So what is a bidding pattern?

Bidding patterns are created anytime one or more bidders start bidding in a predictable alignment. This can be as simple as someone using a Bid O Matic. Because if someone has placed 3 or 4 Bid O Matic bids you start expecting to see him or her place more bid o matic bids and you start counting on his bid o matic to bid. But eventually his or her Bid o matic will run out and stop bidding. This abrupt change in a pattern is a confusion point. This event could very well be the end of the auction.

What are some of the main confusion points?

  • An aggressive bidder who suddenly stops bidding is a confusion point but this particular confusion point rarely causes the auction to end.
  • Bid O matics that run out of bids create confusion points and is common reason for an auction to end.
  • Last second bidders who suddenly stop bidding create confusion points and are the number one confusion point that caused auctions to end.
  • Bidding wars were one participator suddenly stops bidding creates a confusion point but if it is the aggressor that gives up it is less likely the auction will end.

So how can you take advantage of a confusion point?

This is known as pushing and it is the process of spotting a bidding pattern and tying to place a bid at the time of the confusion point in order to take advantage of that particular confusion point. So if there is a Bid o matic, then you want to be the last bidder before their bid o matic runs out. Keeping track of how many bids a user has placed can give you insight as to how they will continue to bid or if they might be running low on bids. The Bidfellows software can keep track of all this data for you.
Can you create a confusion point?
You cannot create a confusion point but you can use bid dynamics to push the auction in a direction that will produce confusion points for you to take advantage of. If you try to create a bidding pattern in order to create a confusion point you wont be in the right place to take advantage of the confusion point.
